Bob2002,
Just make sure u note the target gain setting with a pencil mark and the back the bus up and set the gains by ear using the pencil mark as a reference of maxish. Ur ears don't lie!!!!
Engine running too.

Actually I've set the gain on that amp a 100 times. It's gonna perform best at 12:00-1:00 o'clock. And that's with any speaker you throw at it. Set it just pass 12 and let er rip!!

They won't learn nuttin that way. The more they play with it the more they learn....in theory anyway LOL.
Very true! I'll retract my statement. OP after you get done jacking around with the DMM. Set the gains just past 12:00 o'clock. LOL!!
We've came a long way bud. Personally I've only used the DMM once just playing around with it. While I can appreciate it for what it's purpose is, I have no use for it. My ears haven't let me down yet.

I think you need to try a different testing unit. I use a distortion detector for tuning my amps, its worth its weight in gold. I was able to set my amplifiers in less than 1 min. saves all the 'math' needed to be done with a multi meter. I charge people $20 to do an amp tune for them. so it made the $ back on it 10 times over.

With the bike running, gains set around 1 o'clock, hd1bt turned up just past 75%, the volts match up to the chart and it passes the ear test. I'm looking forward to getting it back together and seeing how it sounds on the road.
