Default Need info: 6x9 Metal basket in Hogtunes Lids???

Got a set of JBL GTO938 to replace my Kappa 693's that the speaker baskets failed. Need help installing into Hogtunes speaker lids. The metal basket flange is only about 1/16" thick and sits flush with the mounting tabs on the speaker lids therefore the screws that came with the lids are to long. The plastic spacers that comes with the speakers don't fit the lids.

How are others mounting these style speakers onto the Hogtunes speaker lids?

Spacers/standoffs for the screws that came with the lids? Shorter screws? Rubber/foam gasket between speaker and speaker lid?

I've had Arcs', Biketronics, Pioneers', and the same Infinity as yours in my Hogtune lids I had to shorten the screws a bit. BTW my Infinity speakers suffered the same fate as yours.

do you have the rubber gaskets from HT that originally come with them? you might want to contact Hog Tunes directly and see if you can get some.

To me they sounded great. Was actually considering adding 8's in the bags just
for a tad more mid/bass as the Infinity's are bright.

Seems like everyone is suffering this issue.

I don't remember receiving any rubber gaskets as I just bought the lids not the lids with speakers. I'll have to check.

So I just watched the installation video on their site. The rubber gasket is to seal the lid against the lower bag not to be used as a speaker gasket. Just passing some info on.

my brand new HT lids came with a weatherstripping seal to seal around the lid when the bag is closed, and a 1/4 inch rubber gasket in the shape of a 6x9 speaker, to seal the speaker to the lid so that water would leak around the joined area of the speaker to the lid. 2 different parts,,,,might look into it.

this is an excerpt from the install instructions available on the HT website......

Locate the black “gummy” material supplied in the kit, and use to seal the
hole shown in the image above in the white rectangle. The 4 white circles
in the image above show “locators” build into the lid to fit the Hogtunes
6x9 when used. Use the supplied 6x9 gasket which is approximately
3/8” (9mm) thick as a “shim” between the speakers and the lid.

I believe that is for the 2013 and older style lids. The 2014 and up do not have that in the instructions nor did it come with a speaker gasket.

you are correct, that is for the older style lids, sorry, there wasn;t anything in your first post or signature line to let me know your were talking about the new style stuff. maybe the gasket from the old style lids might be your solution?
just a thought, good luck.
