Default Music cutting out, now what?

I’ve had the pn4.1000d and 62.11i in the bike for a couple weeks and all has been great until today. Had the radio turned up at like 10 or 11(maybe) while cruising down the freeway and the music started to cut out. Turned it down 1 click and it was fine. Then it started again. I’m now down to volume 8 max. If I go to 9 it will sporadically cut out. Only other time I ever had an issue like this was years ago with a boat and the amp was overheating and shutting off. Don’t think this is the case, amp is barely working with these speakers and it’s only like low 60s today. So what’s the issue and what do I need to do now?

Do you by chance have an in fairing antenna? I have an in fairing CB antenna and if my squelch is too low the amp causes the CB to pick up a signal and causes the stereo to cut in and out.

I had that issue with that amp when my battery got low, but not running.

When the bike is running, what does the volt meter say? It should be 14+. Also, does it cut out when not running on acc? Are you running the amp bridged to those speakers?

Pull your fairing and run the radio at the same volume and see what happens. 99.999% sure it’s the amp clipping or going into thermal protection. Your lights on top will tell you what’s going on.

Yup. I didn't think about that. BTW are you running the auto volume control? That will cause the amp to clip while riding and not clip when sitting still if you tuned it at the edge.

I have had that problem when running and low battery also. Charge your battery and try it. I had it happen most often when I had the system hooked up separate from the switched power source. I had a habit of running it when the bike was not running then taking off for a ride. I would have enough power to start the bike but when I took off and cranked the volume there wasn't enough battery to keep up.

Battery is almost always at 14+ on the gauge. Will be just below 14 at idle but just a tiny rev and it comes up. Amp is not bridged, speakers are on channel 1 and 2. I think it is set around 17 volts, I would have to go check my other thread to see what I was told to set it at. Wouldn’t think it is the battery, bike starts no problem every time, even after sitting all week. Auto volume has been off since I first got rid of the stock setup. No antenna on the bike at all, under fairing or on the back of the bike. No CB unit. I stopped to have a beer and when I left I rode with the volume up pretty night and it was fine. I’ll have to see how it does on my way to the next stop.

is there any chance the GPS is active and on a route?

just asking, I thought I had a radio problem, come to find out the GPS was giving me turn directions and I couldn't hear them, all I could hear was the radio cutting out or dropping in volume
