My NEW set up!!
hey folks, been into setting up my new deal. 8 speakers, 2 horns. 2-10's, 6-6.5's and 2 horns. 1000+watts to the rear tens, yes 1000 plus. 3 batteries and DSP. I might try a couple of different 6.5's in the lowers, the fav PRV and the Hertz SV165, but I'd really like to insert my PRV 8's FT in the lowers, after i get some more of the electrics wired up i"ll see if i can fab the 8 inch PRV's into the lowers, if so, this thing sould absolutely ROCK. I'm very excited about the possibilities that open up with multiple batteries in play.
Some people are going to ask why, and the answer is because I can and I really like doing this kind of work/design and the end results are usually pretty satisfying. the bags with the 10's and the batteries will all be wired up with quick disconnect connectors, so the speaker bags can be removed for service and or for trips and swapped back to the stock bags so there is storage with a litte less powerful system, but still good.
have fun.

i'll post back up once it's wired up and functional with a review.

one battery each bag, main vehicle battery. battery isolator to keep all 3 charging when bike is running. power from main battery to isolator, then from isolator to junction block, then power and grounds to each battery in a bag. aux batteries are wired in parallel in order to up system capacity, due to the large draw from the new rear amp. when ignition is switched off, main battery and aux battery circuit are no longer connected. Very similar to a marine or rv auxillary 12 volt system and there is lots of info and video's out there on the web. This is DEFINITELY NOT required for a good sounding bike, it's really just an experiment on my end to see and satisfy my curiosity about how many watts the larger speakers really need in order to sound good. I admit that i'm probably setting up an overkill type situation, but once I satisfy/prove a couple things to myself, i can downgrade the system as required and truly KNOW the why and how of it. Having a shop and a bunch of accounts definitely makes it a whole lot easier than for the average person.

I'm glad you clarified that. I thought you were being conservative. lol It should sound damn good.

by 1000w is that off amp rating or no kidding clamp measurement of actual power going to speakers? Personally I think it's unnecessary to send a set of mid bass 10's that much power. The Cartel Toy event is at Tropical Park with DJ Laz from 97.3 hosting the event. It's normally an all day event with the sound show, a very informal event just for fun. being late in the afternoon. Swing by if you free up.
