Default Are Lowers Worth the Cost

First let me say that I have not been a fan of lowers on a street glide. For years I thought that if I wanted lowers I would get an ultra. After much debate, all my riding buds buying cvo's and Gann telling me that I needed them, I purchased a cheap ($150) painted lowers off ebay with the speaker pods. It took me all of an hour or so to put them on. One clamp at the top and one at the bottom. I took the hertz sv's out of the fairing and put them in the lowers. Powered them off 2 channels of an nvx 4 channel micro amp. I got it out today on the interstate (spitting snow 39 degrees) and I now know just everyone has been telling me. At 85 I could hear my music at just a bit over half volume and I am almost def.

That $150 is probably the best audio investment I have ever made and I have spent some money on sled audio. My currant setup consist of a Sony 5000 HU, stinger spx 700/4 amp, nvx 4 channel micro amp, hertz sv's in the fairing and lowers, beyma ast 50 horns and dd vo 6x9's in the lids. With my db app on my phone it is pushing an average of 112db and crystal clear.

Thanks to all the guys who suggested them and going PA set up. You know who you are...

Is that an Ultra ur riding? Lol.

I totally agree w everything u said brother!!! I just cannot get myself to put lowers on my sled. I would have a custom inner fairing made w 8s before I went there. No real reason other than I just don't like the look.

But it's damn awesome u got urself over that hump brother as the audio benefits are huge.

If I remember right you and I had a conversation about lowers at last year's m&g. At the time both of us didn't like the lowers. Well I lost that battle.

I want to do 8s in lowers on my street glide. Lowers don’t bother me.

I just added a set of MMats to my lowers and the wall of sound is just awesome. My wife was driving behind me today and she said she could hear the bike tunes over her radio! Just awesome

Welcome to the light side Hoss. When I had the four speakers in my Ultra even with the PN4.1000d I wasn't overly impressed. Yeah it would get loud, but so does gunfire. It wasn't until I added lowers that I could actually enjoy the music.

Now I'm gonna drop something else heavy on you. I REALLY started enjoying the music when I went to eight speakers (fairing, lowers, pods, and lids).

BTW, T doesn't need lowers because with all the 8s he is running he doesn't know what he is listening to. It's all vibration at that point

I swore I would never add lowers, hated the look. I finally tried a cheap set and was sold instantly. Now I modified them for 8” speakers and it’s a new level.
