Looking to Upgrade from LOUD to SQ
#42
Yes, I think it sounds awesome!!! I can peg the HU crystal clear zero distortion, and it's extremely loud . which leads me to believe I still have some tuning to do...
I'll try, problem is I play everything through my phone, the wife took a vid on her phone last night but it's too big to text me. I'll get a shorter one.

have a 2018 SGS - keeping HU - installed SS PN4.1000d - Hertz HCX165 - BT355 - I got loud but sound was muddy and not clear, crisp sound I was hoping to achieve
I and looking to replace SS with SD 800 4.d EVO - hope the clarity/crispness is what I achieve
any comments or suggests are welcome - thank you in advance.

Thanks for the response - to answer a couple of q’s- all items were brand new (amp, speakers and LL) - I did not touch adj on LL. I set HU no speed volume, bass and treble mid range and set volume at approx 75% to adj SS amp. I set amp to HPF, adj crossover to approx 11 and gain to approx 10. The spkrs were connected to front channel only (not bridged). Once again - loud but not crisp -somewhat muddy.
Not to stir up another forum rat’s nest BUT I am curious if the enclosures should be ported.
At this point of frustration - I am contemplating replacing the SS amp with the BT2180.14 (as I have an ‘18 SGS).

Hey brother, ur just not gonna get awesome low mids out of the 690s do don't go too far down the rabbit hole with those. Ur almost gonna be better off setting the LL HPF at the default position and the LL gains at 12 o'clock and running full pass / all pass on ur amp. You might possibly be able to get just a touch more clean low mids in the mix by adjusting the LL an RCH but it's not going to be miraculous as those speakers are just not extremely warm to begin with. Very nice speaker on the road but in the garage it's just not gonna pound out the serious lows so manage ur expectations accordingly.
