After blowing the moto 602's I'm looking for replacements. Hoping to stay below $200.00
The Hertz hcx have been suggested and I am also looking at the mmats PA601cx and the DD DX6.5a
I"m not opposed to components as long as I can stay in budget. Already have the hogtunes grills to mount the tweets.
Amp is JL MX500/4 and the BK LL.
I don't want to mod the pods if at all possible Looking for a warmer sound and willing to sacrifice some volume to get it..
db moto or ARC Moto 602s? Have to ask, You got your line leveler at Burger King? Yeah I know it's a BT typo... Sorry I can't actually help you with a recommendation

seems that the Hertz hcx have been a tried and trued speaker for many years, and they certainly do deliver a warm, pleasant sound, and you have plenty of amp for them to perform well.
as far as fitment in the pods, someone here has tried and will chime in soon with a definate answer. Im still on a pre-rushmore

HCX fit in my ‘18 RG pods without mod. But removed rubber from HCX magnets and used BT adapters (which are sloped spacers, only about 1/16” on thinnest edge). Also used hogtunes metal grills as advised by lady at BT. Tight fit but no pod mod. Sound great!

Your post doesn't include what bike you're on. If it's a RG, your answer to no pod mods have been answered by Fullbore. If you're on a SG or Ultra, I know the HCX fits in a 14-16 model year with no pod mods. From what I've read the HCX in a 17 up pod should be put inside the pod. There are videos on YT that show that process.
I've found the HCX'S to be a good, warm sounding front speaker with plenty of volume going down the road. That said, you want 150w going to them or at least close to that.
I've never heard the Mmat as a stand alone speaker, but what I have heard, I wouldn't like them alone. The DX are also not as warm as i'd want.

I will chime in on this. When I got my 2018 SG, I tried putting the hcx in my pods only to have the woofer rubber hit both the stock grills and hogtune grills. After the 3rd time taking those damn pods off and on is when I decided to buy the bt speaker brackets. I don't know what the difference between my pods and earlier pods are but I do know that the hcx will not fit an 18+ pod without some modifications.
