Which speaker
Your post doesn't include what bike you're on. If it's a RG, your answer to no pod mods have been answered by Fullbore. If you're on a SG or Ultra, I know the HCX fits in a 14-16 model year with no pod mods. From what I've read the HCX in a 17 up pod should be put inside the pod. There are videos on YT that show that process.
I've found the HCX'S to be a good, warm sounding front speaker with plenty of volume going down the road. That said, you want 150w going to them or at least close to that.
I've never heard the Mmat as a stand alone speaker, but what I have heard, I wouldn't like them alone. The DX are also not as warm as i'd want.

Specs on the amp are 250w bridged @4 ohms so plenty of power.
And yes to pods are a pita to remove.
The only reason I mentioned the MMATS and DD coax is I saw a post here somewhere where Haze said they are solid speakers. Must have been talking about the pro components. I have never heard of anyone running the coax of either hence the question.
Thanks for the replys's guys
They all are. An array of 1/4 drive, allen and gearwrench wrenches help.
From what I've gathered, the pod spacing to the grille/inner fairing must have changed between the 2. The Hcx's seem to fit in the white ones without issue. It's been said the excursion makes the woofer suspension hit the inner.
