Cardo Packtalk Bold
Thanks buddy and it looks good on ya. My thoughts at least is to do something like the sena calvary helmet and hide the speakers and mic up in the helmet lining to avoid the ear flaps. I realize it might mean getting separate over sized speakers or a splitter and doubling the speakers or maybe earbuds if that doesnt work
Example at the below link. Watch from the 2-3 min marks

I think my biggest problems with this setup are:
1. The MIC does a poor job at highway speeds, even with a fairing. (This may be a Sena thing, since Cardo's noise cancelling seems much better)
2. You still need side flaps to get decent sound at highway speeds - that defeats the purpose of putting the speakers in the lining,
3. No pull-down visor. The Bell PitBoss & Scorpion 1/2 helmets have replaceable pull-down visors in clear or tinted.
4. BIG - The Cavalry uses the 10R, which is years-old technology. The Sena 30K and Cardo Packtalk use Mesh for much better comms.

I was just using the Calvary as an example of where the speakers and mic are hidden in the helmet and pretty far from mouth and ears. And yeah I agree it wouldnt be optimal at highway speed but if Im doing a lot of highway it will be with a full / modular helm anyway. I was thinking more local riding when wearing a half helm

When I ride local I take my Breakout w/ Freedom Amendments & Big City Thunder baffles - even the PackTalk Bold w/JBL speakers has a tough time overcoming that noise!
Well I ordered and just got the half helmet set up. This looks like it will work ok, the mic seems long enough. Just not sure about the mic when riding local and not using the unit. I plan to use ear buds with this unit. I have an ipod I use for trips and that works well for my music. There is hook up and the earbuds work with the radio and ipod Bluetooth hooked up. Now I need to get with my buddy and get these hooked up together and try them out. want to use my Samsung cell phone for the music side, so I gotta get music uploaded to that. I'm quite anxious to try these out! just need a couple more months.....
Any one got suggestions or hints, I'm open. I'll pass along what I find out as well. So far for the bike to bike communication and music, I think this will work well.

Im also using my Samsung for my music. The hey google play Samsung music command works to activate it. If there is a way to connect cardo to this player, i haven't seen it yet. Google though is now doing away with there voice unlock screen commands which means i first have to unlock the screen manually
I think I can Bluetooth the phone to the cardo. not wanting to use the phone for calls, just music while riding. want to keep the "toys" to a minimum. I also have Bluetooth earbuds that I want to try to hook up. The downside appears that I can only have two devices Bluetooth at a time. The radio and ipod worked with the voice commands hey cardo....
You can play music right from your phone so no need for ipod bluetooth connection. They have a few music player apps that work with the cardo commands, i just happen to be used to the samsung app that isn't one of them
well i'm not a good techie, so once I get things set up, my son and Verizon will have a few visits from me! I know it works on my ipod, so I am covered there!!
Well me and my riding partner both have our half helmet speaker systems. We got together today to set these up. Low and behold we both turned units on, and I said something to the unit to turn on radio, and he jumped! We did not have to do anything to pair them. So we are both excited to try these out. Just need to mount on helmets and we are set. Oh.... he said he could not hook up his wireless Bluetooth earbuds... so that's our next project. The wired in earbuds work just fine.
Question about the half helmet kit, from what I see in the videos it backing clip attaches to the ear flap straps. Id rather have a backer that clips onto the helm itself like what comes with the full face version. Should I order the full face kit instead and how much shorter is the boom mics between the two models?
