Default Microphone with Sony 5000

Anyone ever tried using the microphone that comes with the Sony? Seems like you could run it up the air vent. Obviously, I don't think this will work for casual phone calls while riding, but Google instructions or a quick call while stopped.

I didn't install mine because I doubt I'd ever use it and I would think the engine or wind noise would render it useless.

I tried it once for the heck of it after l installed the radio. I was in the garage and called my girlfriend who was in the house. I then disconnected the microphone and put it back in the radio box.

Yep this was my thinking as well. Curious if anyone will reply that they have actually used it on the road.

Never installed mine!

Plus I would not like my calls coming through 3400 watts of power to the public!

As I agree with Gypsye I did hook up the mic on mine. I'm not as popular as I once was so phone calls are rare but I figure it's better to have and not need it than need it and not have it. Works up to about 35mph. Dont know if it matters or not but I am running a Kenwood excelon not the Sony.

I only thought of it because I tried to call my son the other day while parked, and it was a headache to figure the radio out to switch to speaker phone.

I did try a test call, "hey Seri call...." worked like it does in my car. Phone was inside the box. Never had to touch a thing. I was parked.
