Trying to help a buddy out, he's looking to upgrade audio system and I've been out of the game to long to know. Need recommendations on what to put in:
Bike is 11 SG CVO
4 speaker system 2 in faring and 2 in the lowers upgrading the faring speakers to 6.5 and I assuming you can go to 6.5 in the lowers as well? ( So what speakers?)
Needs new amp in faring his is overheating and shuts off (AMP?)
New head unit that factory bar switches still function?
Budget is $800 to $1000

That budget makes it difficult for a quality system. Just a guess on pricing Head unit 200 handle bar controller 50 pods 300 Mmats 500 for 2 pairs amp 300 stinger, install kit 70. Now he could go cheap on speakers like Skar 6.5 TX65 and that would be 200. Save 300 over the Mmats.

 

It does make it difficult with the budget, I appreciate the suggestion though. Thought I would give him his options then he can decide what to spend.

 

He can source used stuff like ebay and the classified ads.But many here have tried to save 3-400 and it just costs more in the long run. Good Luck

 

Anybody have a link or model number for Stinger and 300 Mmatt looks like there's more than one?

Be sure to add water treatment as an option.

 

Stinger spx700x4 Pods were 300, Mmats are 129 each PA601.cx 4 ohm.

 

Another option.
A new HU and controller will cost you about $300, if you can find one. They are hard to come buy if you want marine
Wiring and speaker adapters, figure $100
Not sure if the lowers are 5.25 or 6.5. My guess is 5.25.
Quantum speakers $200/pair
Soundstream amp $120

That puts you around $900-1000
