Default power pucks setup

has anyone installed these? i installed a pair in the fairing of my 2011 FLHTCU and i'm having trouble adjusting them. between the adjustments on the power puck amps and the adjustments on the radio i'm not getting good results. any suggestions? the automatic volume control seems to be reacting differently, also. any help would be appreciated.

I've not installed them, but did look at the install PDF from their site.

Did you setup the "Turbo" function? There is option 1 - always on, and option 2 - selective by switch on.

Especially if it's related to AVC - i'd first disable this entirely and then adjust to see if you can get it to sound decent.

Can you also explain further what "not getting good results" means? Distortion? Noise (alternator whine?)? Lack of volume/loudness?

HTH - GL!

oh, and i hooked up the "always on" turbo option and that's one of the things i'm thinking about wiring it up to the "acc" switch on my panel.

Not sure about your amp but I have the RS400 from HW and it says to disable the AVC. I would think most if not all amps require it to be turned off. When I setup my amp I turned all of the treble and bass off, put the volume at about 70-75% then set the gain on the amp until it starts to distort the turn back down until no distortion. Use a CD if you have one in the unit when doing the setup as radio is not very good for that.

Yes. I think this and Turbo are not playing well together and adding distortion for you.

I'll look in the install guide again, but i would level set it by disabling it to start. Both AVC and Turbo. Then adjust like any other amp - as mentioned here by MMF.

Let me put it this way - if it allows it to get louder w/o any drawback - wouldn't they just rate it at higher RMS and call it done?

Sounds more gimicky... and likely Turbo adds volume, but also adds distortion. I don't know of any quality car audio amps that have "turbo" - bass **** yes, but once you set the gain correctly you shouldn't need to boost/"turbo" it...

my .02 - again i don't have the pucks.

They really aren't very clear on how to adjust the input Match. They just say adjust to your setup? So what does that mean? How did you adjust yours. They make such a big deal in the instructions about not running the system until you adjust the pots but other than giving you a ballpark level they don't tell you what to listen. The gain would be easy to adjust but I would think all is lost without somehow getting the match adjusted properly.
