Not sure of where to go jet wise.
97 Wide glide with kuryakyn standard hypercharger.
I just ordered short shots.

No idea where to go jet size wise. Havent pulled carb but wanted to get some input because of what state the bike was running when i got it. Had it for about 50 miles or so.

Currently running stock pipes but put new plugs in when I got it and it was running rich. Previous owner ran stock pipes with out baffles and same Air clearner. Would baffles cause it to run rich if it was tuned without?

What does adding the VH short shots do to this scenario?

Also considering dumping the hypercharger for Arlen ness big sucker as well.

hard to say. if the exh is free then it would tend to lean out a little. i would not change a thing till you have the new pipes and go from there. now there is a possible reversion issue you might encounter. a jpeg of the plug would be nice and where most of the ride was in as color does change. the new pipes will probably sound better than gutted stock.

yep pretty grubby.
first things first, must do a look-see as to what is in there and that the needle/seat and level is good. if the pipes are coming soon, just as soon do it once but if not and the machine runs fairly good and you ride above 1/4 to 1/2 throttle then drop a main size to start. if you ride below that then start at the pilot/air settings.
i usually do wot first to get the correct main but some do this last, your call. once the main is nailed, forget about it, then work intermediate with slide needle and jet, check for wear. forgot, make sure the air cleaner is clean and free flowing.
tuning with cleaner on and off makes a diff so stick with a routine.

What jets and needle are in it? If its stock and you're going with those pipes and an air cleaner, I'd run a 45 slow, and one side up from stock on the main with the stock needle as a starting point.

I went to an Arlen Ness Big Sucker stage 2 instead of keeping the Hypercharger. I felt the hypercharger was cool to look at, but cant say that I feel that it made some great difference in how the bike ran. But at the same time I got the Ness stage 2 because I liked the look of it more.
I've rode about a 70 miles total in my life so I'm not even sure what I'm looking/listening for. I have yet to hit 5th gear. Yes, Im that much noob.

Nonetheless, I know that it sputters. I get decel popping. The hypercharger mounting plate, inside and around it, is all caked black. Bike never starts on the 1st try-even when I changed the battery.

Has anyone done the boil in lemon juice/pine-sol clean btw? I dont know if I should take out spring and seat and expose float bowl etc etc

Stock needle. 175 main. 45 pilot is what's in there now. 1.5 turns out on air/fuel jet

So I got her all put back together, 97 Wide Glide stock Evo. Ness sucker 2 and shortshots. Using 45 pilot, 180 Main.

getting a distinct, what sounds like a puff of air/lady fart when i open up the throttle to near full (say 75% open) while sitting at N.

not sure where to go with adjustments
