Fuel Floats Stuck - '05 FLSTC
My fuel level floats are stuck in the "Full" position on my '05 FLSTC. Happened once before and the technician freed them easily enough, but I'd like to know how to do it myself without putzing up the bike. I know that it happens because I tend to 'top off' the tank when I refuel (which probably isn't going to change), so I'd like to learn how to do this operation myself since it's likely to happen again...and again!
Thanks in advance for the assistance...ride safe.

You need to get a service manual. Then remove the panel on the top of teh tank that has the sending unit attached to it. It takes some twisting and turning to snake it out. Once you do that check to see if the float arm moves freely. Then check to see what the arm is hanging up on when it is at the top. You may have to bend the arm (slightly increasing the angle) to prevent the arm from hanging up. Be sure to buy a new gasket and tighten evenly to prevent leaks. Do the R&R with the tank less than half full. Then fill the tank from a can and shake the bike with the dash off to ensure that there are no leaks. Then install the dash and have fun. Hope this helps.
