Default Tank Removal

I have a 2012 RK FLHR and need to run the data cable for the PV under the tank. Does the dash need to come off? or can I just remove the tank with it intact? Yeah I know I need to buy a manual.

Thanks

You can remove the tank with the dash left on, just don't pull the front screw.

2 bolts up front and 2 bolts in back of tank them back dash bolt.
Fuel line is easy, push up chrome cover while pulling down on fuel line.
Piece of cake.

Thanks,
Do you know off hand which fuse controls the fuel pump?

Its a 15 amp IIRC. If you are looking at the fuse box it is all the way on the left, 4th one down

If you don't pull the dash, how are you going to disconnect the plug that goes to the speedometer?

You'll be able to lift it just a little bit not very far, the connection on the bottom (fuel sender maybe?) doesn't have alot of slack (although you can pull it first if you can fish it out), and the vent tube runs under the dash also

JMO, but it's not a lengthy process at all to just remove dash + tank & then you have unobstructed access to run your lines, tie-wrap them neatly and make the install "much" easier. With my 1st tuner, I left tank on bike & propped w/2" x 2", but things were still tight. Learned from this & removed everything for 2nd tuner and it was a much better experience. No need to cut corners b/c it's only a couple of extra bolts & wiring harnesses...
