I posted this in the Welcome forum, but this looks like a more relevant place. Sorry for the duplication.

I'm not a rider, but I hope this forum can help me. Please direct me somewhere else if there is a better source. My wife's grandfather raced Harley's and I am trying to date a photograph. Can anyone help me with the year of the bike? That would at least give me the earliest date for the photograph.

The engine appears to be an F, which was 1911-1929 but the bike itself appears to be a 1922 J model.
