Default Cleaning

Hey guys - have always washed my Ultra w/ some liquid car wash (fairings, etc) but was wondering if I can hose off real well? What do you all wash with? Sponges, wash cloths, chamois cloths for drying, etc? What about car wash liquid, wax, leather & chrome parts? Looking for tips on the best methods that everyone prefers. Thanks in advance!

I have used Meguiars products for years. Liquid car wash and wax. Always sprayed bottom of bike with Simple Green, let it soak while I get things around. Hose it down well and used an old wash mitt with the Meguiars products. Used the cheap microfiber cloths from Harbor Freight. Have been pretty happy with this. I retired end of 2018 and over the winter decided to get more serious about the cleaning process. So I spent a bunch of money with Griots and bought a polisher, their wash, conditioning product, and wax along with three types of their wiping cloths. Yesterday I finally got around to cleaning bike with these new products. Used a clay pad that was in the kit, and that seemed to help clean the surface. Then the conditioning product which was applied with the polisher. Cleaned that up, the waxed. Wiped that down and let it sit overnight. This morning I applied a second coat of wax. Man that sure made everything feel nice and smooth. I'll give it another clean job in a few weeks and see how long it holds up. It took time, but then I had plenty of it.
Search this thread and do some research. I like the Griots products so far. Everyone has their favorite products. and methods. You should read the older threads and you should get some ideas. Check the Griots web site. They have a great how-to section that helps.
Good Luck!!

I just ordered some pig snot wax, it will be here in a couple days. I'm anxious to try it out. I enjoy cleaning my bike as much as I like riding it. I was taught at an early age to take care of my stuff! My bike shows it when we go on rides!
