Default Cleaning Bugs off fairing & windscreen

Hey Detailing Guys,

I came home from a long overnight trip and the fairing and windscreen on my 21 Street Glide were a mess. I gave it a good clean today and put a damp towel over the windscreen and fairing while I worked on my wheels and tires. That definitely helped and when I soaped & washed them they got mostly clean, but there are still a few stubborn bugs. So, what’s the best way to clean them for good. Also what do you use on the actual windscreen? I seem to remember reading that glass cleaner is a no-no.

Thanks,

I use a wet hot towel a couple times and it does the trick for these north Florida bugs.

Hyrdogen Peroxide. We keep a small spray bottle to clean along the trip. Back at home, wash, clean bugs and then put a good wax base.
This is what I use mostly.

And for a really great base wax I use this.

This stuff is GREAT !

First, and most important, is to have a quality sealant or coating protecting the paint or windshield. If not you are in a losing battle

A coating will have the bugs coming off with just using a water hose.
A waterless wash will also work to breakdown the bugs
never understood using medical supplies to clean paint. Or using furniture polish on paint.

Million products.

For 20 years I used pledge, and carried it on trips. I have used bugslide, and now using aero cause cheaper. Probably no difference in any off them. Pledge is the cheapest, but I have come a snob. The aero stuff comes with some really nice towels

Amazon Amazon

On bikes with tall windshields that I look through, I carry it with me, even on local trips for driving at night.

i did a ceramic/graphine coating on my bike which helps bugs not stick as well IMO, but to clean off bugs i went through a bottle of this.
