I have a 2005 Superglide, looks brand new, 6700 miles. Bought it with 4000 and the guy said he put a power commander and the stage 1 AC assembly is all. I added a Patriot Defender pipe and all the cosmetics, haven't done anymore performance. Anyway, couple of my buddies have bikes, all 88" HD of some sort and after they ride mine say man that thing is quick. Also, my dad has a RK with stage1 and the 96" and 6 spd and I can pull away from him pretty good. Mine just feels really torquey. Yesterday some arrogant dude was on a super nice SG being all obnoxious pulling in and out and parking right up front. When I left the bar near him, I was rolling some, revved it up and let her rip, spun all the way through first, hit second still squirrelly and finally grabbed. I know it's hard to say from this but does that sound normal for my mods or could there be more in there??
It's possible that whoever owned the bike before you did the research & picked the perfect combination of pipe a/c and jetting/ tuning. Just tell people all it is is a pipe, ya know, total sleeper. Also it will make them all jealous. 😁
You could just have a good engine, some are just better than others. As far as the RK the extra 100 pounds takes away any advantage he has because of the 96. IIRC 8 pounds equals the equivalent of one hp. So he lost approximately 12 hp due to weight.
It may very well be 'built' and have an aftermarket cam. I mean who puts on a Power Commander for just an air cleaner. I'll bet he swapped his pipes back to stock to sell.
Of course it could all be that amazing Patriot 2-1.
75 hp 80ft lbs tops. A few runs should be no more than $50 and give you an idea how the tune is. One free thing you could try is pulling the map out of the super tuner and seeing what the map is for and if there's any additional notes.
