2700 RPM stock is 74.3 MPH, 2700 RPM 68T is 72.1 MPH., less than 3% geared down. That's why you aren't feeling a big difference.

A great site to play "what if", with gearing changes...tp

Yea, understandable because it wasn't much of a change. I had high hopes too, more so in the acceleration department. But really 6th gear does pull much better, I felt that with 32/66 it was almost lugging in 6th gear at 70mph. And I would either run 75 in 6th or stay in 5th and do 65-70mph down the highway. So now I can run in 6th at 70mph very comfortably and with my speedometer corrected with my PV2 it looks like I'm doing 70 right at 2690-2700rpm like your gear calc. Says. Plus with my schooling now I do a bit more 0-35mph riding than I'd like and the gearing makes stop and go much nicer. Curious to see how the gearing affects fuel mileage when it warms back up and I start taking some more and longer joy rides.

With the 32/66 I was leaving my cousin's cbr500r and a 5.0 mustang no problem from 40-100 still pulling on them. Last night I took it up to 90+ish with the 32/68 and it still pulls just as strong so I sure didnt loose any top end, at least within reasonable use. like I had 2-3 guys tell me i would.

Always wanted to gear up my Dyna as 3000rpm is too fast for me @70mph cruise. Would have liked 2200RPM @ 70MPH a lot better. I just don't see the need for a long stroke engine to be spinning that fast, especially when it's un necessary. Now that my Dyna has an eighth of a million miles on it, I imagine it's probably too late for this one.

You may have lost some virtual top end, but in reality you should top out the same, as with either gearing, the HP runs out first. Check on the GC site and look at the top speeds at a given RPM in each gear. For sure 6th spec will be virtual, as the engine just won't pull to redline in that gear.

Went out for a ride earlier. Highways and back roads. Think I got up to 70MPH once. Just a nice casual cruise, the exact reason for this Dyna, at least for me.

If I want to go fast I'll take the C14. Both so different, but equally enjoyable in what they do. tomp dd50

You Don't lose any top end going to lower gears when you're over geared for EPA fuel MPG's.. The best bang for the buck on my 08 Fatbob was the 30T pulley..

Did you see and real change in your gas mileage after changing the CS pully? I average 40-42 MPG with stock gearing and a windshield.

Thanks for replying. . .
I guess little changes mileage on the big twins. Funny but three of my bikes get the same mileage, 1150 boxer twin, I4 C14, and the Dyna. H-D claimed much higher MPG on my '11, but I've never come close to the 50+ MPG mess they claimed.

Mounted a new Michelin Commander 2 on the front wheel this evening. Kind of a pain, but it came out looking good. Going to balance it tomorrow. I have a back one to do also.

I look at it covered on jack stand every morning & night as I leave/return from work. Snow/Ice/Salt do not make for good riding conditions.

Put on a Fat Boy headlight, waiting on the trim ring.
