Default SE Stage 1 Air Kit

I just installed the SE stage 1 air kit today and had a quick question. The breather screws that were on the stock air setup and reused on the SE kit now have the black rubber breather plugs covering them. I noticed on the stock setup there were black tubes that routed from the breather screws back into into the stock air filter. The question is why is it okay to now block the breather screws rather than have them "circulate" air to wherever to and from they went on the stock version?

I know that it must be okay to block when since its in the instructions on the install of the SE kit, but it just seems strange.

They aren't blocked. Those rubber things you think are plugs are actually breather tubes. Look at the ends of them where they curve down by the throttle body.

Indeed, you are correct... I guess my final question would be that I swapped out the SE filter for a K&N Filter and changed the oval stock filter cover to a round filter cover. I turned the breather plugs so that the tail end is pointed toward the K&N filter and thereby hidden behind the filter cover. I'm presuming that it doesn't matter what direction the breather plugs point toward? I also presume there isn't any concern with these breather plugs not having any filtration on them.

Better check that. The "plugs" aren't really plugs. They have a hole in them on one side and need to vent through the throttle body so they should be pointed toward the throttle body.

You actually want to point the ends of the breather tubes into the throttle body...The oil mist will then be burned with the air/fuel charge instead of sitting in your garage after a ride..The air filter can't hold much oil and will eventualy start to drip...Hope this helps...Later

Attached are pictures of both sides of the breather plugs. Can you tell me if this is the correct way to do it?

Take off your filter. Those breather tubes should be UNDER your filter. Then reinstall your filter.

Thanks for the pictures. My dealer installed mine SEStage1 air cleanerbut I always like to see how things are set up.

Related question...

When I got my bike home from the dealer, I noticed they left what looks like an accessory plug dangling below the air cleaner. I called them and they said the stock air cleaner has a hole that holds that plug but the new SE one does not.

I just zip tied it up. But I'm wondering if anyone has figured out a better solution?
