Default Handle bars movement

Hi Guys,

New to the FLD, are the handlebars suppose to move from front to back ? seems like they are mounted in rubber bushings but I do not know if this is normal.

Thanks,

Poly bushings will cure that.

Yes on the poly bushings. If the bars are slipping in the clamp, can wrap some emery cloth to stop the slipping.

They are not slipping in the clamp, Just move forward and backward when you pull on them. I figured Harley mounted them in rubber ( somewhere in the triple tree ) to cure vibrations going to the hands but was not sure if this movement was normal.

Do you guys notice any more vibrations with the poly bushings ?

Is this a Mod that you guys did yourself or does it require special tools ?

How much are the poly bushings ?

Many Thanks,

Before going through all the bs, try tightening the mount nuts a bit first and see if that fixes the problem

The problem with the poly bushings is that, yes, they will tighten things up, but you will feel more vibes in the bars. I opted to go back to stock because mine were cracked out, and haven't looked back

I have the same movement in my bars. I went to the Poly Bushings but still have a lot of movement from front to back. The thing I always check on, and have had to adjust once so far is movement when pulling upward. That happened and it told me that I had to tighten the riser bolts. Torqued them to the proper setting, still had the front to back movement, but no upward pull type movement.

I run polys with 12" burly bars and they did firm up everything a little. If you want no movement then you will need to look at solids.

I didn't notice any increase in vibes with polys.

The factory rubber bushing are made to give and move a little bit, not a lot, but a little to help with vibrations.

I put poly bushings in and didn't notice very much difference. I think it's psychological for the people who say it's a world of difference between the rubber and the poly, they both flex a tad.
