Default Fatbob engine upgrade

What sort of HP/torque numbers would my engine need to be pumping out to burn my friends night rod special off.
I currently have 2012 fat bob RSD tubine filter, short shots, woods tw-222 cams and a power vision.
Would one those fuelmoto 107 kits and a set of ported heads do the trick?

Thanks Steve

Would be hard to put exact hp/tq #s needed but you would want to open up the wallet! The night Vrod has 125 hp @8000 rpm and is 40 lbs lighter, so the shorter the race the better because you will need to take advantage of your torque(after engine build).

That being said, the FM 107 kit, new cams, new high perf 2 into 1 pipes, upgaded throttle body, FM B heads, and a nice dyno tune should do the trick!

If you are jumping into the high hp/tq game, I would do a crank runout check first just to make sure your bottom end is up to the task.

Both riders same weight, stock V-Rod, you will need nearly 120 rear wheel horse power to make it a race...been there done that.

You will need to contact S&S Cycles and lay out a boatload of $$$ for a 124" motor and other upgrades. Is it really worth it to you to break your bank account so you can gloat over your friend?

All I want to say is make sure if you do the upgrades afford the most you will ever want rather than build it and not be happy 6 months down the road. Of course with some guys it never ends power = $ the more power you want , the more $ you have to lay out. But generally I would think that beating a V-rod for acceleration will cost a minimum of 3500$. Now I'm just approximating here so don't everybody jump down my throat at the same time! Remember one thing crunch those rods take off in a hurry, but the feeling of that un stoppable thrust when your riding is called torque, which V-rod and most sport bikes do not get to enjoy!

I understand the need for speed. If that is what you really want and you can live with the behavior of the motor after the fact then go for it and have fun. Let us know what you decide.
