Sorry for the crappy pic. For some reason my garage lights make pictures over exposed or under exposed.

You guys are too kind. Thanks! I can't wait to scrape together enough coin to get the front half squared away.

Wow man, great vision and hands. Almost makes me want to sell the wife, kids, and mortgage and turn the garage into a machine shop...

I spend a lot of my garage time alongside my youngest son (18). We've built a couple cars and engines together and the other bike that's barely visible in some of my pics is his. He bought it in pieces and is getting it back together. He's experienced enough now to do things solo but we enjoy the time together. It's so much more fun to work with a partner even if we are on different projects.
One of his first jobs was helping me build a 427 BBC.... He was pretty good at loosening/tightening bolts back then. Eventually he built his own engine for his first car. Almost all his own money and plenty of hands-off guidance from me. The build also included a custom stand-alone Megaquirt EFI system. I ported the head and soldered up the Megasquirt boards for him but the rest was all him, including the wiring harness. He is now enrolled at UNOH for their high performance automotive program and is hoping to get a job at nearby Lingenfelter or a custom rod shop. |
^^^^All the above... Real Cool :)

you are one in a few brother. job well done. I have a 4 year old right now, and always in the shop with me. always "turning wrenches". under my truck, under my sled, under my bike. under his 4 wheeler. always busy and getting dirty. I think its perfect. his mom don't think so when he comes in once again with oily clothes, but hey they make more of them. not the experience

Absolutely! Enjoy those projects! Sometimes it can be a hassle when they're little and slow you down but it's worth it. So many life lessons and skills are learned and the memories are priceless. Plus, as they get older it creates a common ground to help maintain a good relationship. Its real easy to lose touch as they get into their teens. We've had some really heavy (but good) talks while wrenching.

I didn't have much time tonight but I wanted to get SOMETHING done on the bike, so....
I present the world's first CLEAN Mikuni Twin Cam Install. https://i.postimg.cc/wxZ6F9QX/IMG_20160511_202044.jpg Yep, the brackets and breathers are on there... https://i.postimg.cc/BZkKD98y/IMG_20160511_202100.jpg I'm pretty happy with the results. Let's hope it holds up! The custom, bracketless AC tube has wet paint on it. I'll put it on in a couple days. |
that is just awesome keep them coming
