I've been trying to do some research and haven't seen any talk about them in a while.

Are they no longer considered a "necessary" Dyna mod?

From older posts people seemed pretty indifferent about which one was better. Did one end up running away with the competition or is this still the case?

Also recently got sparked on this idea again. Way too many options and everyone swears one is the best, but unless you've tried all 10 options, how would you know?

There's the Sputhe and Tru-Track stabilizers, then there's new and improved motor mounts: Vibra Technics, Alloy Art, BBC

Seriously no idea which direction to go anymore.

 

I have never found it necessary to have since I have owned my bike since new in 2010, but if I did get one, it would be the Vibra-Technics.

 

Conceptually, I prefer the idea of an integrated mount/stabilizer. That's why I'll probably get the Vibra-Technics over something like the Sputhe. It makes sense to me that the mount material/shape is engineered to complement the stabilizer.

 

I've had the Sputhe for a few years. It's well-built and bullet-proof. I don't see any particular advantage over the Tru-Track (they basically do the same thing in the same way, with a couple of minor design differences which could matter if you have California smog cans or low-mount oil coolers etc).

I looked at the Alloy Art unit, but couldn't make myself believe it would be as solid (It clamps around the frame, where the others bolt on). That said, other folks have said it's solid and it sure looks easier to fit than the Sputhe or T-T rear units).

When my front engine isolator/mount sh*ts itself again (which it inevitably will, it's an unbelievable design fail) I'll probably ditch the Sputhe front unit and replace it and the isolator with a Vibra-technics unit.

If I had my time over I'd have gone with a Vibratechnics front and Sputhe rear (I recall reading that Allan Sputhe will sell the rear unit separately, unlike Tru-Track who only sell the front and rear as a pair), but the Vibras weren't available when I went Sputhe.

As to whether they do anything, the answer is unequivocally yes. Harley should ship Dynas from the factory with an equivalent stabiliser setup IMHO. That's how Eric Buell designed them. Riding without it feels like riding with 10-15psi missing in both tires - weavey and imprecise especially in higher-speed sweepers.

I lIke my true track. But like above, I don't think it would be any better than the sputhe, basically the same thing. The vibra technics only addresses the front so you'd still need something for the back. The BBC mounts are crazy money. So imo the sputhe or true track is the best bang for your buck.

 

Isn't the front the main thing that needs to be addressed?
