I have a 2010 Wide Glide. Cam with mods already installed, and the dealer gave me a EFI Super Tuner Screamin E. The bike has V&H Short Shots, and the Screamin Eagle Air intake. Ive had the bike for just over a year now, and it has all of a sudden started running like crap. I just pulled my codes to see there were any and the PO 107 code is showing. Can I map the fuel myself or do I have to take it to an authorized dealer that has the program for this type of thing, or does this tuner just plug in somewhere and re-tunes the bike for me. I know that last part sounds kind of nutty, but like I said, I'm new to this so gimmie Hell if ya need to.

Go there, that's where you will download the software you need to use the tuner, there are also some great videos that will teach you how to use the tuner.

I would say if the bike was running fine before, you shouldn't have any need to remap the engine.

 

Using the SEPST to re-map your bike, you best know what you're doing as the device isn't really all that user friendly without previous experience. You'll need a laptop computer and the interface cables and the software downloads from the MoCo website. BUT before you do any of that check your MAP Sensor and the MAP Sensor ground location for corrosion.

 

With the above knowledge, I will hold off and check a few more things. Couple of questions, with the Code of PO 107 tells me that I have a MAP Sensor Failed Open/Low EFI. Does that tell me that it's definitely bad, and I need to change it. If I change it, does that effect the fuel mapping that I already have.
If my MAP sensor is bad, is there a possibility that it would run fine cold and then once the bike warms up it would start running choppy. I'm gonna pull it off and have a look at it, I don't want to ruin my bike. I've only had her for about a year now, but I also want to learn about how to care for it properly. Sorry for the mundane questions, but if I don't ask......you know.

The code doesn't necessarily tell you that the sensor is bad, but that you have no signal from it. So, it could be wires, it could be the sensor. Check the wires of your MAP sensor, and pull it if you need to check it.

I don't believe the MAP sensor is one of those that does a going, going... gone type of failure. Its either good, or it's bad. I suppose a new one 'could' affect the tuning map, but I'll bet you wouldn't notice it... and the ECU will 'relearn' a few things.

 

I took a half day at work today so I could work on this. I'm gonna pull the air filter and check that and the MAP sensor and have a look at that to see if there is anything that I can find. Ill be back with some updates as I go. I really do appreciate you comments as this is a good way for me to learn how to diagnose certain issues and learn what I can and shouldn't do.
