Default Handlebar help!

I have a 15 street Bob with stock 12 inch mini apes. I want to change them out for Nash mini gimp hangers and I'd really like to keep the install as simple as I can as far as wiring goes... So my question is do I go with 12 inch Nash bars and make it easy or do I try the 14s that I'd really like to have and try to make the wiring and cables stretch? Does anyone know how much extra length is in the wires on the street Bob?
Thanks b

theres plenty of extra length on the factory wiring that you wont have to extend or modify the harness to reach 14" bars. I did 14" burly narrow apes and had PLENTY to spare. cables? yeah I needed all new cables.

I was bar shopping and read with street bobs you could do 14" bars with stock cables and wire.

  1. Maybe some can....I tried on my 2015 and didn't work. Clutch and throttles were 1" to short. Just my experience

Thanks for the quick replies... Did you order a cable kit or get them custom cut... I feel like so many aftermarket cable kits look sloppy because they are generic lengths

I ordered the Burly cable kit for 14" bars. Probably cost a little more to order it that way but all the stuff was in there and I didn't have to dick around with it and make 3 trips to the hardware store.

My '16 came with 10in bars and I put black 10" Wild1s just last week. Double check that measurement as I thought they were 12's also and was wrong. The only wiring that had some slack were the ones inside the bars, the clutch and throttle couldn't stretch anymore than the 10 inches so keep that in mind. The brake line could have given me maybe 1 1/2 inches but it woulda been tight. I took lots of measurements before hand and I came up with the same conclusion. Finding the connectors on the right side was tough since it was buried. The left side was simple.

Pretty sure stock is 10". I'm looking for 12" replacement bars in black myself. Any suggestions to add to this post would be awesome.

I got 14" burly narrow apes and they're very comfortable. They make 12s as well im.pretty sure. Decent price too.

Street Bobs come with 10" bars from 06' to current unless you custom ordered different bars. Wires are pretty much good for going up to 16" without the need of additional length. The cables are a different story, one could most likely get away with adding 12" bars, but anything above 14" it would be best to replace the cables. For about $220-$250 one could order all new cable from Barnett Clutches, their price is the same from stock length all the way to +12". I just put them on my bike with the 14" bars I added, cables are awesome.
