Default 2004 Dyna Wide Glide Value Question

Hi All, Hope I can get some Forum info on this bike, a neighbor of mine is offering me a 2004 Dyna Wide Glide for $5,000. Has 8,200 miles, dealer serviced at Cowboys HD in Beaumont, TX. He has all records, covered in his garage all the time. I have not had a chance to take a look or test ride at it as yet, maybe tomorrow. Any suggestions and does this sound about right for the price?

Basic specs show it as an 88ci 5 speed, so not as impressive as newer bikes, but anything special about this or comments I should know, or forget it?

I'm riding my 1992 FXDC I bought new so you won't hurt my feelings.

Appreciate any comments plus or minus

If the tires are fresh and it's been recently serviced, $5K is a pretty good deal. Be sure to ask him if the cam chain tensioners have been looked at.

That's about par in my experience.. It's a really good price based upon kbb value. However, folks aren't interested in the 88ci motor ones as much as there have been several upgrades since, ci, fi, etc..

How do I know, I picked up an 03 WG with 14k for $4k from a coworker in near perfect shape with new tires. Figured if I didn't like it, I could flip it.. It's not the case, but if I sell I won't lose anything either.

The good news is that if you maintain it properly the 88ci is a good solid motor and should last awhile. There are big bore upgrade kits, but if you don't go nuts and stick to 95-97ci it won't break the bank if it needs refreshing after time.

That said for $4-5k it's a lot of bike for the money. I've been a more surprised by the WG than expected to be..

Three ways to look at it.

1. I'll keep the bike for maybe a year, then "flip" it and buy something else. BAD DEAL

2. I'll keep the bike for a long time. I know the guy, he's honest, and takes care of his stuff.
OKAY DEAL.

3. Same as 2 + I will verify the age of the tires, and if over 7yrs, discount for cost of tires.
Same with battery if over 2 yrs. It the dealer hasn't seen it in 2 yrs, discount that as
well.
GREAT DEAL

As an 04 WG owner I will tell you this. 5k for a clean unit with low miles is a steal. The miles are low so theres no concern on the cam blocks. If the fluids are fresh (I'd change em anyway), the only thing to look for are the tires in terms of wear and age.

I love the bike..

Wow, big thanks for the great advice from y'all! I'm going to take a look at it today and check out tires, battery, etc. Maybe post a picture or two if I can.

The battery is a cheap insurance policy - if its more than 2 years old, for 100.00, change it. Tires have a shelf life... BTW this bike rides amazing on Metzeler 888s.. Its a good solid fun bike..

If you get it change the brake fluid along with the oils.
