Default FXDLS 14in T bar install

Hello new to the forum here. I just ordered some T bars from Death Squad down in LA and wanted them installed. Dealer is trying to get 1k off me for install ( not including parts) so I am gonna make a run at installing myself. I am located here in the Bay Area in CA and would love some help and would be willing to pay/ pick up some booze for anyone nearby. Any help would be great.

Your going to have to un pin the wiring concetors, may or may not want the tool to do so, soldering iron, to lengthen the wirining. Along with some shrink wrap.

might need the mounting bolts too, as I belive the dls comes with small risers.
I'd recommend a pair of solid riser bushings as well, poly at the least.

most likely clutch cable,re_routing you get aprx 5inches of stretch out of it.
. Brake line will be needed too.

Good call on the bushings. I was under the impression the electrical wires would make it without having to extend?

You will not need to extend the wiring for 14" tbars. There is plenty of wiring for all the hand controls.

I installed my tbars (Lucky Dave's 14" San Diego) by myself, and I am far from a professional mechanic. I used a stiff sewing needle to depin the connectors. It took me longer than it should to figure out, but once I popped one wire the rest came off first try.

There are literally two big bolts to undo, and then pull out wiring. You can do it. The only time I wished I had another set of hands, was while bleeding the brakes.

For brake and clutch lines I used drag specialties parts:
Clutch cable

Brake line

Once I reach my five posts I can put up pictures. I do not have any install pictures, but maybe seeing bars installed will motivate you.

^I forgot to specify, but this was on my 2016 LRS.

Was under the impression most bar makers made openings large enough to squeeze the micro connectors through, without the headache of de-pinning. Know mine did. You must really dig those bars to go thru the extra hassle of that.

you wont need to de-pin and the wires are lone enough. you may need longer clutch and throttle cables.

I tried first without removing the connectors, and it was impossible. It is possible that the Deathsquad bars are big enough to squeeze it all through, but the Lucky Dave's were not.

It really wasn't a big hassle. I took pictures of the wires before, so I knew how to reassemble. Once I figured out the technique to remove them, it was a snap.

And yes the bars were definitely worth it.

You don't have to worry about throttle cables, because the Lowrider S is "fly by wire" and there is plenty of length in that assembly as well.

Awesome, Thanks for that info that helps big time. I ordered the cables and bushings so now its just a waiting game till it all comes in. By the way what faring is that you have on yours? Ill take pictures and update the install for anyone else wanting to know.

Also with the ABS is there anything that needs to be re mapped flashed cleared etc from the dealer when done?
