Default First ride on my 2017 Dyna Low Rider - Wobble

Hey guys when HD discontinued the Dyna family over the summer I had to ****** up a Low Rider. I had always wanted this motorcycle and thought it would fit nicely between my 2015 1200C and 2017 Road Glide Ultra. Yesterday we had some nice weather and I decided to break it out. It was my first ride on it.

Wanted something that I can cruise with, without going all out with the RGU but also wanted something not as small as the 1200C. My 1200C does have the larger tank and larger front wheel but the 1200 engine really screams up at speed and sometimes I also wish that bike had a 6th gear.

Anyway, had my Low Rider on the highway. Cruising along keeping up with traffic no problem. 6th gear and larger displacement engine compared to 1200 but without the baggage of the RGU. However, I was disappointed with the ride. Seems like when on the highway up at speed 70-80, the front end and in the handle bars, wobble back and forth. Gives a very nervous feeling. Can anyone suggest a fix for this and this normal for Dyna framed bikes?

The first thing to check are the tire pressures. Could also be the adjustment of the steering head or a bad motor mount.
Easy enough to look at the tires. Pressure and irregular wear patterns. You didn't say if you bought it new or how many miles are on it.
Either way, it's still under warranty so have the dealer take a look at the problem.

It's a 2017 LR that I had purchased new in Aug. It was my first ride on the bike. It had about 10 miles on it. I'll look into the tire pressure. Thank you.

It's definitely worth checking. I recently purchased a 2014 Low Rider and was surprised at the recommended front tire pressure, which is much lower than that for the 1200c I had; and when I checked it, it seemed that the dealer was so surprised that he didn't believe it, because he had put too much pressure in it.

Nope, something needs fixing. Mine handled as good if not better above 80.

Check the tire pressure, if that's not it, since it's under warranty take it to the dealer and have them check it out. Bearings could do that too, ask me how I know, lol.

Could very well be flat spots on in the tires too, sounds like it has been sitting for a long period of time. That bike could have been made a year ago and only have 10 miles on it those tires would almost for sure be out of round. I would start with tire pressure then maybe return to the dealer if that doesn't solve your issue. Good luck

I common problem for the Dyna is the high speed wobble. I had it bad on a new to me then 2008 Dyna and threw all kinds of fixes at it. Difficult for the dealer to replicate the problem if they have to ride it at 70-80 mph.

If all the items are checked off, tire pressure, steering bearings, motor mounts, etc, then do some research on the True Track or Sputhe stabilizers.

Shouldn’t need any accessories/stabilizers/etc. on an otherwise stock, new bike for straight, stable 80mph riding. Somethings wrong. As said, check what you can check, and if it’s repeatable, it’s a dealer repair issue.

So a bike with 10 miles on it and should not exceed 50 mph for the first 50 miles was being operated at 70 to 80 mph.

Is that right? I only remember rpm limits, not speed. But then, I can barely remember what I had for breakfast...
