My homemade mini saddle bags

My homemade mini saddle bags
I was screwing around today with an old old sewing machine my grandmother gave me because I said I wanted to make a pair of saddlebags.I took some leather (Approx 8 oz) and 1000 denier cordura nylon and made some mini sadlebags. For my first real stiching project they came out pretty good. No piping or anything but the flames with the cordura showing through came out decent. They are about 9" tall x 11 1/2" long and 7" deep loaded. In this picture one bag is holding a pair of jeans, a t-shirt and some socks. After stiching the other side it will be enough for a simple over nighter. I still have to make the stiffener for the back and they will mount to the detachable side plate on the bike. No supports necessary because they don't hang over the wheel well (it is sagging low in the pic because it is just spring clamped on the bike)

RE: My homemade mini saddle bags
Definately. I am working on my final desighn for hard bags (If they work out real good I will start to sell them) but I had the leather and nylon laying around so I thought I'd give it a whirl. These will be used for me and the wifes trip to Nova scotia this summer and for south dakota. In materials both bags cost me about $25 and took a total of about 4 hours.
