Default click from front end when braking

On a trip i just finished i noticed that I developed a click in the neck under heavy front braking. It doesnt feel like it is flexing but im pretty sure it is the bearings or at a minimum the tension. is 2014 fxdl and it has 30,000 miles. it is in need of basic serice right now anyway. The book says to lubricate the neck bearings at 30,000 miles. Do you actually have to take the front end off and remove the bearings to pack them in grease? do yall do that every 30,000? Then I guess do the fall away procedure?

Or should i just do the fall away procedure and see if it stops clicking?
The steering feels good to me and the side to side is smooth

I had a similar thing happen on my 06 fxd and it seems like the dealership fixed it with a differnet type of washer maybe, it was a while ago. Anybody know if there are any service bulletins on this for 2014 dyna

any advise would be greatly appreciated.Like i said it feels ggod and rides good and it doesnt feel sloppy to me, but it does click when using the front brake heavy or over big bumbs

pleas advise

30k miles... when was the fall away last checked, and when was the fork fluid last changed. The bushings tend to go out after awhile.

Were the forks ever rebuilt with a full fork seal kit? Im asking because there was a chopper with a wideglide in a buddys shop that was clicking because the bushings where worn from the front end being really long.

i would check the fall away and go mabye a quarter turn tighter then check again. If its still happening then i would rebuild the forks completly. Doesnt sound like the brakes to me.

When I did the fork fluid I installed some ricor intimidators. That is all I did to the fork, but I'm pretty sure the sound is coming from the neck, like it's flexing a tiny bit under heavy front braking. You can't feel it flex, just a click sound

mine has done it since new. Have taken it into the dealer 3 times, they never fix it.

Its annoying, ive learned to ignore it

saving up to do race tech's and stuff maybe that will fix it

I assume you did the obivious of making sure caliper is tight. It was removed back when you did work. Those taper needle bearings are pretty rugged. Mine looked like new when I was stupid enough to check them becsbec manual said to. Mine have a grease fitting.

Were the triple trees ever removed? All the correct washers are in there right?

if you have a lift lift it up just enought to be off the ground and shake the front end a bit. Tie the bike down too so it doesnt fall off. Then go a quarter turn on the nut attached to the steering stem. You will need to find the sweet spot.

Yea it's not the caliper or pads moving. I will lift the front tire off the ground and push/pull it up and down to see if I can make the noise
