Default 2017 FXDLS cable lengths?

I have a 2017 low rider s. Just bought some bars and risers. 9.5” hardcase performance risers and renthal fat bars. These are a Motocross bar which the company mills for internal wiring. Just wondering if anyone can steer me in the right direction in cable lengths clutch and brake and also what I need to buy? From what I understand the stock wiring has enough length for this setup? New to the forum! Any help or info is appreciated!

Your local dealer probably has a set of mock-up cables with measurements on them...basically a set of cable rulers/tape measures that you can mount to your fittings on one end and then run to the brake/throttle/clutch housings on the other end when you mock up the bars. This way you get an accurate measurement for all your cables based on how you decide to route them and you can ensure there’s enough slack when you give the fork full left/right deflection.

I borrowed some from the parts dept at SD Harley a few years back when I swapped some ape hangers onto my sporty...the dude just let me take them for a day or two and I dropped them off when I was finished. It does prolong the bar swap process a little bit bc yoU have to pull everything off, mock up the new bars, measure all your cables using the different cable measures, and then order the appropriate lengths of everything...so ultimately your bike will be down for a few days while you wait for your parts.

When I swapped mine, i just needed to get longer clutch and brake cables, my stock throttle/idle cables worked out fine. I also had to get some wiring extensions for the hand controls bc the new bars were internally wired and had a couple of bends in them.

Hope this helps, good luck! Hopefully you can stay away from any electrical work, that’s the biggest pain.

What rise are the bars? I have 10” risers and ~3.5” rise bars. I went with +8” cables from Magnum Shielding.

Dunno if this helps but I fabricated 2.5 inch spacers for my lrs (when it had the stock bar/riser setup) and didn’t have to modify the wires/cables. With 16 inch apes I had to get longer clutch and brake cable/hose, but the wiring was plenty long from the factory.

I mounted my bars, then used a co ax cable to measure the length id need.

I think your total rise with the rentals would be 12 or 13" . I have the 13 " Lucky Dave bars on my LRS and went with +10 on clutch and brake line. Fits perfect

thanks! I should be right around the same total height as you. Do you need the lower portion of the front brake hose too or can you just do the top?

Yes, you’ll need upper and lower lines. This is due to the ABS block on the bottom of the trees.

Can you send an exact part list of what bought? I'm going with the same Lucky 13's 13in for my FXLDS.

These are the part numbers in Black Pearl finish. You might be able o get them cheaper if you have a hook up with a Drag Specialties dealer.

422812 Clutch cable
AS47006 ABS block w/ lower lines
AS47228 upper brake line

Which bend of the Fatbar did you choose? I'm about to pull the trigger on the same setup for my FXDLS, but can't decide on the bend I want. Please post some pics post install?
