Default 2012 street bob vibration

I recently bought a 2012 street bob and have fallen in love with it. I've had it for about 2 months now and I've started to notice excessive vibration in my right foot/brake area. Usually in the 44th hear range. I'm fairly new to riding and understand that a motorcycle vibrates harder than a car or truck, but it seems to be more now than when I first got it. Some folks say check the front motor mounts, some say tire balancing and so on. I'm in the process of getting new tires to get on the bike. The factory tires are still on it at 8,200 miles, so it's time to get new ones put on. In the process of inspecting my bike for all these possible problems causing vibration I noticed that my spoked wheels don't have balance weights on them. Is this normal or could that be a possible cause?

Well if it’s caused by your front tire, you should (normally) feel it more in the handlebars than the highway pegs. I would look at the front motor mount as they are usually the culprit if you feel it in the pegs. I have the same problem with my lrs at 3000 rpm I have a wicked vibration in the pegs. Look over your mount real well and go from there. Typically your wheels should have weights on them but on very rare occasions the tire will balance without them. These bikes do vibrate a lot but I’d still suggest looking into the mount. With the oil filter directly above it they get oil on em during service which is bad for the rubber. Hope this helps.

wouldnt be surprised if the front mount didnt collapse. there are numerous threads on this but if the mount is rest on the center hump of the mount it has collapsed and there was a service bulletin about this. sounds like a good time to upgrade.

How would I be able to tell if it has collapsed?

This is the service bulletin on Dyna vibration, it will give you an idea of how to inspect the isolator. If you do find your isolator is contacting the engine bracket transferring vibrations to the rolling chassis the HD approach that's shown in the bulletin is a band aid; replace the mount I've got Predator front mount in my '13 and I never looked back

Join the club!! Google "Dyna vibration" and you'll find you're joining a very large club. I've replaced everything but the engine. Still puts my feet to sleep. Can't wait to get rid of it. Most frustrating is that "Expert" mechanics will all tell you it's "Normal".

Is it a priority to change out that motor mount or can I hold off replacing it till the winter?

you can hold off. id just be looking to also replace the rear by winter. in my honest opinion you should change both anyway. the dealer replaced just my front under warranty and i had to bring it back for the rear not even a month later.

predator front and shave the hump off of a NEW rear mount just like that service bulletin says for the front and you will have a setup that will last you the life time of the bike. ( and be super smooth lol)

Or if you can swing it, predator front and sputh rear....then you have the best set up money can buy, after that it all about the mechanic doing the alignment, get it right and your bike will be the Harley you always wanted.

it will still vibrate but in a good way....plus the bonus to this type of set up it it will help cure any wobble or weave the bike might display....
