Default Thinking about going in a different direction with my Dyna

I am thinking about raising it back to stock ride height (the rear is lowered one inch), putting a comfy seat on it (has a bare bones currently), putting a passenger seat and backrest on, put passenger pegs back on, getting rid of drag bars, etc.

Sure it won't look as "cool", but I think I will enjoy it more, as well as a lady friend.

Fair enough. Quick and simple except the bars.

I tell you one thing, this Bare Bones Seat has me squirming in pain at around 40 miles.

Yeah. They look cool, but they're not very practical. My solo seat with even less padding than the Barebones is far more comfortable.

You may want to keep the drag bars, though. I changed from drag bars on a previous bike to baby apes (10-12") on this bike, and my shoulders can feel the difference (more pain!). I'm probably going to switch back to drag bars as soon as I get some time to do it. Already picked up 4" pullback risers to use with the drag bar, too, and bike came with original cables, so I have those as well. It's up to you, but I wouldn't change the bars...the rest, definitely, at least for a passenger. Though the seat may not look as "cool", if you get a Sundowner seat, your passenger will LIKE riding with you, and you'll be comfy too! My wife likes mine, and hated both the stock and another seat I tried. You'll be able to handle even riding long distance, easily. So far, did about a 400+ mile day ride, and didn't have any back or backside pain. If you want her to ride with you more, you might think about passenger mini-floorboards. You can always flip them up and out of the way when she's not with you, and you won't notice the difference, but when she's with you, having a larger place to put her feet will help her enjoy the ride more. Make sure the passenger floorboards are completely adjustable, though. Just speaking from experience, my friend.

I'm still experimenting with the bars, as well as other things. I know the stock bars on my Kawasaki caused me tremendous pain between my shoulder blades, put some one inch risers on the bars and it is now a pleasure to ride. A little bit of difference can be a huge gain.

As for the seat, I'm thinking of a Mustang Vintage Wide Solo Seat for now and I can get the matching passenger seat for it later.

Bars are another story, but I have two seats, detachable backrest, and detachable bags (I actually have a detachable windshield too, but I found I don't like it even when touring).

In about three minutes it goes from a decent local hotrod to a decent mid-range tourer.

Add a set of shocks with easily externally-adjustable preload, and you're in good shape for both setups!
