Default Tire question

I have a 2016 Street Bob and am wanting to put wider tires on both front and back without changing rims. Has anyone done this, if so how much did the handling change, Also what size were the tires?

This is the kind of question that we get in class. Often, the answer is somewhat fuzzy as ratios and proportions can become lost to some. Since there are tons of variables, it would be best to leave it alone (stock tire size.) But, if you simply must tinker with it, let us know what you did and your results.

I am going to take a wild guess and state that you have the stock sized rims on the bike. 19" front and 17" rear? Correct. I believe you can go to a 180 rear without problems and a 120 front. Anything wider and you could run into clearance issues....

As far as handling goes, its to subjective to even discuss. What one person likes or thinks is great handling can be another persons nightmare.....just like seats, bars and other mods....

As far as sizes on the Stock Rims...

I think there are still only (3) brand/model 180 recommended for the "Skinny" 4.5" wide rim

And 110 would be the widest recommended on that 2.5" Front

Does a Superglide have a different sized front wheel then a bob? Just wondering cause I am sure I read or was told a 120 will fit the 19" rim on a Superglide. Not sure if it will fit between the trees but on the wheel it would....curious as I am looking to replace me front with as wide as I can but I am running a wide glide style front end so i have lots of room between the forks, its just what will fit on the wheel....

Well sure, it will physically fit on the Rim ... but it would Not be recommended by most (if not all) Tire Manufacturers

If it fits what would be the problem running it? To much side wall pressure? meaning it would curve the side of the tire into the rim to fit?
Just trying to wrap my head around why it wouldn't work?

For one thing, it starts changing the profile of the tire from it's design ... Tire manufacturers supply tire fitment specs ... I tend to follow them

This brings up another interesting relative point...

I just picked a 19x3 Laced spoke "Profile" Front Wheel from a V-Rod ... That wheel comes stock with a 120

It's a Midglide Hub and of course will go right on a Dyna (midglide)

If the Bob and Sg are 2.5....and the Vrod is 3.0. That 1/2 inch probably makes the 120 work. Dam. I was really hoping to go to a 120 or wider tire...guess I'll have to switch wheels....

This is an example using radial car tires so it doesn't illustrate the added tire tread profile change that would occur with a motorcycle tire...but it's a start.
