Default Flywheel Runout over .020.

My new mechanic picked up the bike yesterday and called me today. "Definitely the flywheels". Runout on the primary side is over .020. New flywheels on the way. What pisses me off is that my regular mechanic and the Harley dealer and two other mechanics said "Normal". Mechanic #5 charged me $500 to change the motor mounts and I'm suing him in Small Claims Court.

One out of 5 and you think he is correct? Did you witness it? Pretty easy to see a needle on a indicator move. And lot of YouTube's so you know he has it on the shaft and not the sprocket.

I knew it. I could feel it. I couldn't get any of these mechanics to even bother to check the runout. No, I didn't stand over this mechanic and watch him test it. Not possible.

Why are you getting new ones? Just have these trued and welded....then they will be as close to zero as possible....

Axial or radial?

If radial, where measured? Condition of bearings and oil pump? Anything connected to the crank is now suspect...

If you are out 0.020 That is horrible!
I would think it would be knocking the bolts of the cone cover .

Not debating your results, but are you certain it wasn't 0.0020, rather than 0.020?

Welding don't work. Also with slipped flywheels it's more than likely the crank pin fit in the flywheels is bad. Waste of money.

Because there isn't much difference in cost. Haven't got the formal quote yet. And it's 20 thousandths.
