Default Paughco or Ultima wheel ?

Thinking of going to a 3.5 black front wheel on my wide glide. Paughco 80 spoke or Ultima 60. Looking for opinions on anyone’s experience with either. Or other choices.

If memory serves, Cvaria tried an Ultima spokes wheel and wasn't happy with the quality. I believe the bolt holes werent clocked correctly for his rotors to match up and the tubeless feature didn't work. Leaking at the spokes. Again, just going from memory.

I'm interested to see what you come up with Durham Man. I was contemplating a similar path last night.

I'll keep an eye on this thread from a close (Killingworth close...) distance.

Regards,
SJK

60 & 80 spoke wheels are heavy. It takes a lot of horsepower to spool up heavy wheels.

Does Kennedy's Custom Cycles still do 60/90/120 spoke wheels?

tis true they are heavy wheels, surprisingly so.

i went with chrome version of these, they are alot lighter, good quality, easier to maintain and no issues with tubes and sealing, if you want to use the 'ride on' option. but thats just imho

I remember he did have the poghco 80 spoke at one time, don’t know if that was the one he had the problems with. He said he went with the touring rim as it is the same or similar to the 49 mm wide glide front ends. I think still looking into that.

I think he had this Problem with the Paughco ... Leaky ... then he went directly to the Alloys

Also, he used a "Touring" Wheel because he went Dual Disc with Low Rider Sliders ... Your WG Left Sider has it's caliper mounts in a slightly different location "Axially" (more Inward)

Called paughco yesterday, they didn’t have an answer as far as the correct rim for my application. They also said the rim in question has been on back order from overseas since last year. They are now getting $513 for the wheel.

Called Jireh cycles last week, they say this is the rim for my bike. But if the paughco is 500 and has issues would probably be a gamble with this choice! Joe40x has been giving me some great advice and he went with ride wright, maybe that’s the ticket!
