I'd rather go with Ohlins anyway since they're the same price as the Legends but also includes preload adjustment. Let me fish for the best price and I'll PM you when I'm ready and to throw some well deserved money your way.
legends has preload adjustment. Ohlins has preload AND compression adjustment

Just went through this thread and wow, a lot of great information if anyone is looking to do what I'm attempting. The more I read, the more I feel confident that I can make this work.

its not hard at all. I remember doing my first time disassembling forks and taking my time to learn how the oem system works, very outdated and crude.

the install is really quite simple and as I said earlier the so called special tools can be easily fabricated with some junk lying in your scrap pile. the only other thing you may need to make is a long 12mm allen socket, had to buy one and grind off the angle to have one long enough to reach the bolt.

Emailed Mr. Howard last night to get a price on a set. I did find a kit for $725 after scouring the web, hopefully he can compete with that price point.

May have to rethink. Just got an email from Howard saying that the FKS 212 won't work with my bike and can't be made to, modified oil lock or not. Though he does have some modified 25mm or 30mm kits that will work, for quite a bit more money.

After speaking with Howard, looks like on of his custom setups is the way to go. May need to save up more coin though.
