Default Detachable problem

Anyone know if there is a way to make a detachable sissy bar permanent? I can't take the rattle anymore I've tried the thread tape thing but that didn't last more than a week.

I'm thinking of trying to remove the latch and the wide spacer and filling in with washers to keep the bag mount flat

Not sure what year mounts you're dealing with, but mine are elliptical, the spools can be rotated to tighten things up.

They are made that way. The installation instructions explain how to position the spools for the best fit.

Ah Ha! Maybe that's why mine are so loose!

The natural position of my detachable backrest spreads the plates out wider than the hard points. I have to tug them in a bit to get them to even go over the spools. I guess that's why mine doesn't rattle. You might try loosening the plates and see if you can get some resistance without bending the plates.

I know we're talking Dyna, but on my FLHX, the hard points can be shimmed in and out to get the same effect. If you can't get the plate to give you the resistance, perhaps you can get the hard points to do the same thing for you by putting a few thin washers under the spools (or removing some if they're already present) and effectively moving the spools in or out.
