Default Help. Inner primary cover

I replaced the secondary drive belt which meant removing the inner primary cover obviously.

Clymer manual states in the reinstalling section that I must loosen the engine / frame mounting bolts to do this.

Why? The inner cover fit back perfectly and all the bolt holes line up perfectly.

What am I missing here.

Thank you in advance.

I've changed out inner primary covers quite a few time and NEVER loosened the motor mounts.

Makes no sense to me. The manual says if you don't it could cause premature chain and gear wear.

Hard tolerances are hard tolerances and if everything goes back exactly like it came off with nothing else moving, especially when all the bolt holes line up.

No mention of it in the factory manual.

I too have changed out a few inner primaries, and never needed to loosen bolts. I'd toss the clymer manual.

That's not the case at all. I mostly rely on the FSM, but I have seen better pics, in the Clymer.
