Default Changing Shocks Without a MC Lift?

I am about to order a set of 13" Ohlins shocks for my LR but I don't have a MC Lift. I do have an automotive floor jack though.

I saw a video on youtube where the guy used an automotive jack to change shocks on a Streetglide. He first did the right side and then the left side. Looked pretty easy but I was wondering if anybody here has actually done that, specifically on a Dyna.

If I get a helper can i also lift the rear tire off the ground in order to get a measurement so I can set the sag?

The sag/preload is set with you and passenger along with all gear sitting on the bike. You already know what un-sprung length is (as the shock lies in the box), you already know what max stroke is as well (via the shocks specs). There is no need for a jack tho it sure makes it easier to install them, even just a sissor lift.

I've used a plate jack for 15+ years, very compact and mine came with HD frame protectors. And, yes, I've used it to change shocks, remove wheels and remove entire front end of bikes.

I used a plate jack also, a regular floor jack or scissor jack will also work.

What they said^^^. Scissors jack.

Skinny money to get one, and if you are getting into those kinds of projects you’ll be glad you have it.

I used the same jack to take the wheels off my Street Glide for a tire change, too.
