Maiden Voyage
Thanks to all for the recommendations and does & don'ts given to me in this forum for my first Harley ride, a 400 mile trip from Madrid tonorthern Spain. I was quite lucky since it didn't rain, the weather was good and the bike behaved like a champ. I purchased one of those H-D jackets that allow the air to get in but protect your arms against sunburn so I was pretty cold whenI started early in the morning. I only stopped twice for fuel. During one of those stops I tried to locate the reason for a cluck felt on myright footpeg every time I went over the mildest bumps, but could not find anything lose or obvious. Mine is an FXDC 2007 bone stock. I started off with only15 km (9 miles) on the clock. Maybe someone has had the same nuissance and knows how to sort it out. I rode the whole trip between 3 and 5th gear, very seldomly trying 6th (I just did it to make sure it was there) and my normal cruising speed was 120 Km/h (75 MPH) a couple of times took it to about 80-90, but that's all. Seat was fine for a non-stop 400 miles (apart for the gas filling). I love my Harley as it accelerates but it becomes raher wild when decelerating and braking; just some crazy vibrations all over, all the way up to the bars. Now I have a week to install a set of Road Winders, pipes and the stg 1 filter with the Commander. Thank you.
