Need Ideas
I just purchased a new 08 Street Bob. I feel for the most part I made the right decision. The only question I keep asking myself is-- should I have gotten a bike that fits me better? What I mean by this is I am only about 5/9 and have short legs. Because of this when I have the forward controls moved forward on the bike I have kind of a hard time bending my food to reach the break peddle. Because of this I have decided to leave the controls as they come "stock" and put some foot pegs further ahead to rest my foot on. The reason I like to have my legs stretched out is because it is more comfortable. I feel that the way the bike comes from the factory with your feet kind of hunched up is not so comfortable. My question to everyone is as follows -- Is having your legs kind of crunched up something you just get use to and is there anything else I can do for comfort?
I'm 5' 6" & found the Bob quite comfy. If you want to stretch a bit,you may want to look for after market forward controls that fit your need.
I know what your saying,I was sitting on the bike & put my feet where the brake pedal & the shifter was.Making like they were the foot pegs,,,,,,felt much more comfortable

I am 6 foot and I have highways on my 06 LR.. I kind of feel cramped (while riding on the highways) and may be opting for something that stretches out even a little further. Fortunately there seems to be an almost unlimited variation of pegs / control setups out there to suit just about everyone.
I'm 5'9" and like my feet under me in traffic and on the twisties. This bike came with highway pegs, but they were the same round pegs as the control pegs. Rode 1,200 miles on them to get it home after I bought it and felt like I had bird's feet, but it was great to stretch out and change positions from mid to front when I felt like it- keeps you from cramping up. To me, this was the best compromise. I test rode a cruising bike with forward controls and just wasn't comfortable with my legs stretched way out all the time.
Just got a set of highway pegs with heel rests attached and that should solve the problem and keep my boot heels from melting on the pipes. Also, the Mustang solo seat I added did a lot for comfort. The sig shows the seat with the fender bib and I also got the passenger pillion to go with it.

I'm with itileman ... I'm 5'8" and have fitted highway pegs but i like my mids for the twisties and I can stand on them if I need to drop the centre of gravity for gravel etc. The highway pegs are a good place to rest my feet on a highway run.

Do they make mid point pegs for the steet bob, and if so were is a web site that I can look at them? The reason I ask is because the guy at the harley store new nothing about them, and at what point are the pegs at that come with the Street Bob?
