Default Another strike out

Tried the compact quick detach windshield from harley on the 07' wide glide yesterday. No go, 3 miles, and I was turning around heading to the house to pull it all back off, and box it back up.

Gonna try and return it tomorrow. Hopefully they'll take it. I don't see why they wouldn't.

Trying to find something to take the force off. My back and shoulders can't take it like they used to. Gonna have to have surgery on both shoulders, but trying to wait till winter when the work load slows down. In the meantime, I'm gonna be doing a 1500 mile trip this weekend, and just trying to find something to take the pressure off.

I guess considering my current health situation, I probably should have bought an electraglide. It's not my thing, but maybe it would be a bit easier on my body.

In related news..........

I've had the quick detach saddlebags from the superglide sitting here in the shed since I totaled it. The bags were at home when the bike was wrecked, and I found most of the hardware for them by walking up and down the sides of the road where I went down. The hardware that was wrecked, or unuseable, I replaced. Then I noted that the catalogue stated that these bags would fit all dynas, except fxdwg. So I just forgot about it, and they've been sitting here in the shed, waiting for me to get around to ebaying them. Well, in light of aforementioned trip coming up, and in need of some more storage space, I decided to see exactly why, the bags wouldn't fit.

Well, they fit. No prob. I cannot find any reason whatsoever why the MoCo would think they wouldn't fit. There are absolutely no interference problems whatsoever.

Just figured I'd share the knowledge, so that if any here were looking at that model bag for a wideglide, you now know that they fit.

Have you tried the full touring windshield? This might be what you need.

They don't list one for the late model WG yet.

Sorry to hear about your w/s experience. Mine has been just the opposite on my SB with the Compact Low Profile lightly smoked. Takes all the wind pressure off my chest and neck, back, shoulders remain rested. Hope your trip goes well.

Yours has a different rake and geometry. The compact quick detach was tolerable on my superglide, which has the same geometry as your bob. On the WG, it's noisier with the w/s, and harder to see, than without.

Understand. That's why I referenced "on my SB". The bikes are not the same, as you mentioned.

Psycho,
I can relate partially to your situation as far as the shoulders go, and to help me out I bought a Memphis Shades fats. It is big though, not small but comes off in about 2 min. and is great in reducing the pressure on the chest. Not sure this is what you are looking for, but just thoughtI throw in my 02 cents. Good luck in your recovery.

Tried to order memphis fats and lowers friday. They told me the mounting hardware for the windshield is backordered, with no eta.

I currently have the windvest. I was just looking for a bit more coverage for the long trip, but the buffeting from the harley windshield was entirely unnaceptable.

What is funny about the whole deal, is that the windvest, with a third of the surface area, does a better job with less buffeting than that big ol ugly a$$ harley shield, and looks good doing it.
