...timing cover used to be a way to access and adjust your points on older FX models.... they just carried the casing design over probably because it would be too expensive to design a new cast
If they had removed that useless port they wouldn't be able to sell custom covers to crazy bastards like us! I like the storage idea. When I replace mine this week I may contemplate a spare house key or beer money stash in the empty hole, but don't tell H-D or else they'll figure out a way to make more **** that we don't need like a dealer/service only tool to get into the bugger!
