Run a long zip-tie through the bottom of the nut and use it to hold the nut in place. Run the zip tie up through the hole in the fender and pull it up until the nut comes up through the fender hole. Pop the c-clip around the nut an run the zip-tie back down and out of the fender. Install seat. It takes about 30 seconds to change the nut over. Your hands will not even enter the fender.

You could also try cranking the rear shocks up to setting #5. That should raise the fender up enough to get your arm in there.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think that that will lift the bike. Just makes the suspension stiffer. Either way, seems like more work unless you can't get ahold of a zip-tie.

The easiest way, if you have two bike lifts, is to turn your bike upside down on its seat and strap it to lift #1. Put your new seat on lift #2. Remove bike from old seat and install on the new seat. Flip bike back over and enjoy.

I called my wife out to the garage, her arm went all the way around the inside of the fender.
Her 1/2 hour of Bitchin' was worth it when she pulled her arm out and it was all black from the tire.

If you don't want to mess with the wife, the zip tie thing works too. I think they actully give you the zip tie with the seats, minehad it, I just thoughtgetting the wife to come out and get dirty was more fun.

The directions explain the zip-tie process really well!
