Thinking of doing the same but other things happening first .
Very interested if you can drill out the rivets and modify the baffles .I Don't know how it will affect performancebut if it can breath easier it would be better no ?
Original mufflers look fine to me just want a bit louder rumble .

The way things are going with the noise police, you may want to keep the stockers as is and put them on a shelf somewhere.
If you must have a louder exhaust system, and want to shed the "Honda" comples thing, you can drill out the plug and leave the baffles.
If you take the baffles completely out (IMO) you will just have a loud bike with about 0 torque. I am sure somebody else will chime in.
I strongly suggest riding your brand new Harley quietly for a while, so you remember how silky smooth it is. Once you open it up and get all that HP you are being deprived of, you will probably be complaining about strange vibrations, etc.
What ever you choose to do, enjoy.

The problem with modifying your exhaust is that you're going to change the flow characteristics of the engine and therefore you're going to have to tweak the fuel injection/ecu etc. For my 2008 FXDF, I bit the bullet and just purchased some Vance & Hines black Short Shots. I had heard Rush racing was coming out with some new slipons but for the money ($299) the V&H pipes include the headers. I was also able to geta matching map for my power commander.
I'll let you all know how it turns out.
