Default Fat Bob w/ the 103 big bore

Did anyone purchase the upgrade to the 103 big bore kit? Just trying to figure out if it would be worth it when I purchase my Fat Bob. Any feed back would be appreciated.

I just had a test ride on a standard Fat Bob, boring, then went to another dealer who had one with the 103 conversion, WOW what a bike, its pulls like a train in top gear from 55mph, the 96 engine struggles and needs a change down to move!

Loads of torque all over the range, I was so impressed I ordered one, it's coming with 255 cams, SERT and V & H pro pipe, I am trading in my Streetglide 1550 SE heads with 205 cams which I've had for 2 years, and that goes like stink, but with the Fat Bob being 30kgs lighter, its awesome! Roll on May 1st.......

In the UK and we pay twice as much as in the States, but it's worth it, so go on get the 103, I guarantee it will put a huge grin on your face

I would be careful doing a 103 because a lot of people are having problems on some of the older bikes with flywheel runout. Also if you doing a 103 you should get SE 103+ heads, big bore throttle body, respring the heads with high lift springs, put a real good cam in like a woody's .650 lift, roller rockers, roller rocker supports, new pushrods and pushrod tubes, and if your going that far i would have the case bored and do a 110 kit with a SE flywheel that is forged and can handle the power. Do some searching on the net about people having flywheel problems. I have an 06 with a rather well built engine and my motor has beaten a lot of 103's on the dyno.

i have a 103 stage 2 big bore kit, with 255cams, andported heads and throttle body.

before the big bore kit the bike made 79 HP and 89 TQ
now it dyno's at 101 HP and 115 TQ

to have the kit installed and the head and intake work it was$1093, i bought the kit off ebay for $600

id say its worth it.

I have the 103" stage 2 big bore with SE "heavy breather" air cleaner, SE slip-on mufflers, and the new SERT. I'll tell you if it's worth it once I get a chance to ride it this spring. I live in WI, so it's in storage for the winter.

I have it! It pulls as hard as my Warrior did. I haven't Dyno'd mine yet.

I have one as well. Just bought it a week ago and put it on myself. AMAZING difference. Funny thing about the Fat Bob is that they have a special one just for it that costs $1200 as opposed to all the other Dyna bikes at $900. I bought the one for the 'other' Dyna's because 1st, it's $300 cheaper, and 2nd, the only difference between the two kits is that the Fat Bob one comes with a new header pipe that has a catalytic converter in the collector tube since the original manufactured one has no cat anywhere. That's all there is to it. The 96 inch motors already have the stroker crank in it so it's a real easy choice to go to. Plus, if you already have the stage 1 air cleaner, they will credit you the $150 and take that out. Now it's $750. I get a discount so it was even cheaper than that but if you order from Zanotti, you can get the whole kit for $702. (Part# 27545-08)

If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me.

I don't think I'd call it difficult. I took my time, as you should, and put a couple days into it. There are some tools that are definitely needed that I'll mention but if you have an average set otherwise, your good. You will without a doubt need the shop manual and a torque wrench (inch pounds). Specialty tools you'll need would be a Cam/Crankshaft locking tool that you can order from Drag, a Piston Ring Compressor that you can get from the same, and some pin ring pliers that you might already have. That's about it other than the basics. Oh yeah, a torx set with a 27 for sure and allen head sockets make things easier to. That's about it.
