2007 -- Starter noise fixed.
Went to the dealer today to have my Quiet Baffles installed. I asked that they check the starter while I was there. It has always been loud and clanky when starting. I never complained before because I read a few posts that the 96" starters are inherently noisy.
Anyway... $800 in warranty parts later I got a new starter ($376)andclutch basket ($428)(no idea if this is the whole clutch or not). Seems like the starter pinion was grinding teeth off of whatever (similar to a flywheel) it's called and I really DID have a problem. I'm sorry I'mnot a wrench and don't have more specifics. But the service advisor... SHE had no clue either.
Anyway... Now it starts like my old Honda. Smoother than Whale s**t.
Oh... by the way. If you have V&H BSS, the Quiet Baffles are the way to go. Deep, loud and creats more back pressure and low end power.

Good to hear that a dealer took care of you and your bike. I just put quite baffles in my sideshots and it did make them lower. Have not had a chance to ride with them yet. Damn midwest winter!
